Aston Villa plans to hire a former West Brom coach and add someone to their academy.

Birmingham’s Aston VillaJimmy Shan will be working at the academy at the club, as Live recognizes, and he will be reunited with his former West Brom teammates.

Jimmy Shan, a former coach at West Bromwich Albion and interim manager, is reportedly joining Aston Villa, according to BirminghamLive. Between 2006 and 2019, Shan worked at Albion for 13 years. During that period, he maintained a variety of coaching positions across the academy before Darren Moore elevated him to the first team staff in 2018. He’s landed a role in B6 with a similar academy theme.

Shan took over as interim manager for the rest of the season after Moore was fired in March 2019 and managed the Baggies’ play-off campaign against Villa, which the Lions ultimately won over two legs on penalties. The next summer, Shan left The Hawthorns when Slaven Bilic was named the new manager of the team. Shan led Albion to seven wins in his brief tenure as manager, spanning 12 games.

Shan then went after management. Following a short stint with Kidderminster Harriers, he received an offer to become the manager of Solihull Moors. Before departing in March 2021, Shan managed the Moors for just over a year. Later that year, he joined Sammy Lee and Robbie Stockdale, two former Albion coaches, in the Rochdale setup.

After another year, Shan moved on to rejoin Moore at Sheffield Wednesday, where he had assisted in their promotion back to the Championship the previous summer. In the fall of last year, Shan accompanied Moore to Huddersfield Town. Shan moved to Swindon Town near the close of the previous season to work with Gavin Gunning after Moore was fired.

It is now known, however, that Shan is joining Villa, where he will rejoin head of player talent ID Steve Hopcroft and academy manager Mark Harrison, who have both been based at Bodymoor Heath since leaving Albion. While at Albion, Shan also collaborated closely with Aaron Danks, the former Villa interim manager who is currently at Bayern Munich alongside Vincent Kompany.
