Following Joe Burrow’s injury, the Bengals rejoin with the former quarterback on the practice squad.
In light of Joe Burrow’s injury, the Bengals have taken an interesting, under-the-radar step to address the depth of their quarterback room.

What does Joe Burrow's injury mean for the Cincinnati Bengals this season?

The Cincinnati Bengals’ chances of winning the Super Bowl in the 2023 NFL season are greatly diminished by Joe Burrow’s season-ending injury, but they still plan to attempt. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports that Cincinnati has apparently reconnected with Drew Plitt in an effort to strengthen their quarterback room.

The #Bengals welcomed back a well-known face as they added Drew Plitt to the practice squad for his second stay with the organization, since Joe Burrow is out for the season. Thus, Jacksonville’s quarterback room going forward will consist of Drew Plitt, AJ McCarron, and Jake Browning.

Plitt entered the 2022 NFL Draft in hopes of winning, but his name was not called. Though he did not make the final cut, he did receive his NFL break when the Bengals signed him as an undrafted free agent. Plitt left Cincinnati to play for the Arlington Renegades in the XFL following his first tenure there.

Jake Browning is anticipated to take over as the Bengals’ starting quarterback, thus Plitt is unlikely to have a major impact. Still, his return to Cincinnati gives him the opportunity to play in an NFL game for the first time.

The Bengals, who are 5-5, are facing a formidable opponent. In addition to Burrow’s injury, they are hoping to end a two-game losing streak at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12.
