Caitlin Clark may not be at Paris Olympics for administrative reason
There are concerns that Caitlin Clark may not make it onto the Team USA roster for the upcoming Olympic Games, despite her phenomenal performance this year. The 22-year-old basketball star was recently chosen as the first overall pick by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA draft after an impressive rise in her career.
Expressing her aspirations, Clark stated that representing the United States would “mean everything” to her and would fulfill a lifelong dream. However, her path to securing a spot on the national team has been uncertain, as she has not yet participated in a senior camp. The Athletic highlighted the existence of a “pay your dues with Team USA” mindset within the national team, which adds to the uncertainty of Clark’s selection.
This uncertainty is further underscored by the fact that players like Sabrina Ionescu and Kahleah Copper are still waiting for their first Team USA roster placement. With the 12-player team for this summer’s Games set to be announced on June 1, time is running out for Clark to secure her spot.
Clark’s absence from the USA camp in April, where she led Iowa to the NCAA title game, may have also impacted her chances of making the roster.
