Rams Are Signing Veteran Defensive Tackle To 1-Year Deal

A week ago, a gigantic gaping hole was created in the middle of the Los Angeles Rams defensive line after Aaron Donald announced that he was retiring from the NFL.

For the first time since the 2013 season, the Rams are going to have to figure out how to run a defense without the luxury of having Donald making life miserable for the opposing offensive line on every snap.

It will be impossible to replace the multiple-time Defensive Player of the Year anytime soon, but Los Angeles is doing what they can to make up for his loss, including reportedly re-signing veteran defensive lineman Larrell Murchison to a one-year contract, according to the 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on Twitter on Friday.

Murchison has been with the Rams ever since they claimed him on waivers in December of 2022 after he was let go by the Tennessee Titans.

He was originally brought into the league by the Titans when they selected him in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State.

Murchison never really did much during his tenure with Tennessee, as he was only able to accumulate 13 tackles and two quarterback pressures in 26 appearances.

The 2023 campaign with the Rams, however, was, by far, the best single-season performance he has had since entering the NFL in 2020.

In 15 appearances (including three starts) for Los Angeles last season, Murchison finished with 16 tackles and two quarterback pressures.

The Rams clearly liked what they saw from him last year, so now he gets to see if he can help them make up for the big loss of Donald.
