SadNews: Decisions are on ground to suspend Red Wings Forward, for possibly five games.

Detroit Red Wings forward David Perron has been offered an in-person hearing for his cross-check on Ottawa’s Artem Zub during Saturday’s game, NHL Player Safety announced Sunday.

That means the league has the option of suspending Perron for more than five games, though it doesn’t assure that will be his punishment.

Perron delivered the hit at 13:50 of the first period during a flare-up that followed a hit by Mathieu Joseph, coupled by a cross-check from Parker Kelly, that left Dylan Larkin lying on the ice and unconscious.

Perron received a match penalty for attempting to injure, which accompanies an automatic ejection and review for potential disciplinary action.

Larkin left the ice with some assistance. He was continuing to be evaluated after the game and there has been no official word of his condition.

Zub was not injured and went on to log 22:31 in the Senators’ 5-1 victory at Little Caesars Arena. Joseph and Kelly received only minor penalties for roughing.

The Red Wings will need to recall at least at least one and maybe more forwards from the Grand Rapids Griffins with the likelihood of Larkin and Perron missing games. J.T. Compher, who’s missed the past two games with an unspecified injury, might return for Monday’s game at Dallas (8 p.m., Bally Sports Detroit).

Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde said after the game, “I thought considering the circumstances that the refs handled it extremely well, communicated well.”
