Former LSU offensive lineman Zalance Heard has revealed his Transfer Portal destination. The 5-star freshman will take his talents to Tennessee and join the Volunteers program.
Heard’s name was listed in the University of Tennessee’s student directory on Friday afternoon.
The top signee in LSU’s 2023 recruiting class, it’s the biggest loss for the Tigers during the Transfer Portal window.
Kelly detailed the status of Heard three weeks ago while he evaluated his options. The former five-star was mulling over a decision to enter the Transfer Portal. Shortly after, he revealed his intentions.
Heard came to Baton Rouge with swagger and confidence that he would be able to take on the left tackle spot. He’s flipped around at right tackle, opposite of sophomore star Will Campbell, but had proven that he will be a key piece moving forward.
Upon signing with LSU, Heard spoke with Kelly on his role with the team and his confidence in taking on a major role.
“Will Campbell is playing left tackle right now,” Kelly said. “He’s pretty good. It wasn’t cocky. He believes in what he’s doing and what he can do for this program.”
Now, as the offseason continues, LSU loses it’s top 2023 signee with Zalance Heard departing the program and making the move to Knoxville after being listed in the student directory.
