Auburn Tigers Stick It To In-State Rival; Land Talented Cornerback From The Transfer Portal
The Auburn Tigers had a 2023 season to forget. While they almost upset Alabama, they couldn’t find wins against the top teams. The Tigers are finding a way to stick it to their rivals in the offseason. Former Alabama cornerback Antonio Kite has committed to the program.
Auburn Tigers Land CBÂ Antonio Kite
Kite is one of 24 players who have left Alabama in the wake of Nick Saban’s retirement. The talented young corner didn’t see the field much in Tuscaloosa as the Crimson Tide were very deep at his position. He is the second defensive back Auburn has landed out of the transfer portal, joining former Texas Longhorns safety Jerrin Thompson. Head coach Hugh Freeze is hoping Kite and others can help the team bounce back in 2024.
2024 Outlook
The Tigers have a gauntlet in SEC play next season. Their non-conference schedule is light, but in SEC play, they will have to play some of the nation’s best. They have to play Oklahoma and Georgia in back-to-back weeks, with the matchup against the Bulldogs being on the road. After a week off, the Tigers then head to Missouri to take on the Tigers. That is a brutal middle of the schedule, and Alabama is waiting for them at the end.
The Auburn Tigers are hoping they can get back to their winning ways in 2024. The SEC gets tougher, making it even more difficult to come out on top.
