With the arrival of April comes the opening of registration for the Sudbury Girls and Ladies Fastpitch Softball Association (SGLFSA).

The association said it is happy to announce that registrations are now open for the coming season, which includes the much anticipated revival of the girls division.

After a temporary suspension due to a lack of volunteers, the league is pleased to welcome girls aged 10- 17 (birth years 2007-2015) to join the league, said the league news release.

“The girls league is more than just a place to play softball; it’s a community where young athletes can gain confidence, build friendships, and develop important life skills,” said SGLFSA President Jessica Lerch.

“We are thrilled to revive this division and provide a platform for our young female athletes to thrive.” she added.

The girls league will host games on Mondays at Carmichael Field, providing a fun and engaging environment for players to develop their skills, make new friends, and enjoy the spirit of competition. Additionally, the Ladies League will continue to play on Thursdays at Twin Forks, offering opportunities for adult players to continue playing fastpitch and enjoy the camaraderie of the sport.

“We believe that sports can empower young women and inspire them to take on leadership roles, both on and off the field,” said Matthew Szanto, SGLFSA convenor of the Girls Division.

“We’re committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive space for all participants.”

To register or for more information, the league say players should visit the FastPitchSudbury.square.site. For any questions or additional inquiries, feel free to reach out to us at.
