Girl on her way to school with her family killed in crash after teen driver allegedly runs stop sign in Independence

Five members of the girl’s family were hospitalized after the crash Wednesday.

A heartbreaking accident occurred in Independence, Minnesota, where an 11-year-old girl lost her life when a pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old St. Paul man allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with her family’s SUV. The girl, identified as Lilyana, was on her way to school with her parents and three siblings, including two 15-year-old boys and a 4-year-old boy, when the crash happened at the intersection of County Road 6 and County Road 110/County Road 83.¹ ²
