A massive explosion in Clarksville, Tennessee, actually turned out to be a devastating EF-3 tornado that occurred on December 9, 2023. The tornado brought peak winds of 150 mph, tearing homes apart and causing widespread destruction.¹
The tornado was responsible for three deaths, including one child, and injured 60 people. Nearly 1,000 homes were damaged, with 114 destroyed and 268 sustaining major damage.²
The National Weather Service confirmed that the tornado traveled 43 miles between northern Tennessee and southern Kentucky, causing massive damage in its path.³ The community came together to support the affected families, with volunteer cleanup efforts and fundraisers organized to help with the recovery process.
