Anthony Richardson entered the NFL with enough potential for the Indianapolis Colts to take him with their No. 4 overall draft choice in 2023. Those prospects haven’t materialized in the way needed for his team to commit fully to the former Florida Gators quarterback. The Colts signed former New York Giants first-round draft pick Daniel Jones to a one-year, $14 million deal in free agency. It sounds like former NFL MVP quarterback Cam Newton feels the move could be the beginning of the end for Richardson in the Circle City. “Man, this (expletive) say a lot, boy,” Newton said last Friday on his podcast, “4th&1 with Cam Newton.” “If I’m Anthony Richardson, you pull that (expletive) again that you did pull that last year. … I bet we won’t hear no more, ‘I’m tired, boss

Newton was referring to a comment Richardson had made after checking himself out of a game against the Texans last October. Jones split last year between the Giants and Minnesota before joining Shane Steichen’s passer room. He reportedly believes he has a better chance of earning a starting job in Indianapolis than he would’ve with the Vikings. “They brought him in there to compete, to make Anthony Richardson uncomfortable,” Newton said. “It ain’t no feelings in this (expletive) man. Big business. … They’re approaching it that way, and it would best that Anthony Richardson starts taking this seriously.
