A powerful cornerback commit to Ohio State as a swap deal reach to final agreement
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord has committed to Oregon, ending his long recruitment by flipping his commitment from Ohio State.
Offord, the No. 11 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings and the No. 2 cornerback in the class, committed to Ohio State back in February after a weekend visit. It came as a surprise at the time, and the Buckeyes held the Birmingham, Alabama, pledge for nearly a full year.
Wednesday, though, Offord made his decision known at his commitment ceremony. And it won’t be Ohio State.
Offord had taken multiple visits to various schools over the last few months, including Oregon, LSU, Florida and Auburn. He returned for a weekend visit to Ohio State-Michigan, but that wasn’t enough to land his pledge.
Ohio State’s class will take a hit, as the talented cornerback from Alabama will play his football in a place other than Columbus.
The Buckeyes still have a five-star commitment in Devin Sanchez, but Offord is now set to be a Big Ten foe.
