Report: Clemson Tigers Head Coach Dabo Swinney Makes Two Roster Changes Ahead of SMU Showdown After Two Players Caught with Drugs
Clemson, SC – Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney announced today that two players have been suspended from the team due to a violation of team rules. The suspensions come just days before the Tigers’ highly anticipated matchup against SMU in the ACC Championship Game.
According to sources, the two players in question were found to be in possession of illegal substances during a team-sponsored event. While the names of the players have not been officially released, sources close to the team have confirmed that they are both key contributors to the Tigers’ roster.
“We are disappointed to learn of this incident, and we take these allegations very seriously,” said Swinney in a statement. “We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to this type of behavior, and we will not hesitate to take action when necessary.”
As a result of the suspensions, Swinney has been forced to make two changes to the Tigers’ roster ahead of the SMU game. The changes are as follows:
– _Defensive Lineman Tyler Davis will take the place of suspended defensive lineman Ruke Orhorhoro._ Davis, a sophomore from Apopka, FL, has seen significant playing time this season and is expected to make an immediate impact in Orhorhoro’s absence.
– _Wide Receiver Cole Turner will replace suspended wide receiver Ngata._ Turner, a junior from Sanford, NC, has been a reliable target for quarterback Cade Klubnik this season and is expected to play a key role in the Tigers’ passing game against SMU.
Despite the setbacks, Swinney remains confident in his team’s ability to perform at a high level. “We’ve got a deep and talented roster, and we’re not going to let this incident define us,” he said. “We’re going to come out and play with the same passion and energy that we always do.”
The Tigers will face off against SMU on December 7th at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM EST.
