Report: Neal Brown shared his initial thoughts on the team’s recent win against the Knights nd what’s next

West Virginia Mountaineers head coach Neal Brown shared his initial thoughts on the team’s recent win against the Knights, expressing pride and satisfaction with the team’s performance

“We’re proud of our guys for bouncing back,” Brown said. “Albany has a good FCS football team. They did some nice things. They minimized possessions, they held the ball. They did a nice job. They’re well-coached, and the kids played really, really hard.”

Brown was impressed with the team’s rush defense, end-of-possession downs, and the performance of certain players. “I thought our rush defense was really good. Our end-of-possession downs were good. We got off the field on fourth down, which was a positive. I thought Ben Cutter and Anthony Wilson were really active in the game,” he said ¹.

The Mountaineers’ offense also showed significant improvement, with Brown highlighting the team’s ability to run and throw the ball effectively. “We really had three bad plays in the game. The rest of them, we kind of showed beginnings of what we’re capable of being, which is a team that’s balanced, that can run and can throw it. We got multiple weapons,” he explained ¹.

Brown also praised the team’s special teams unit, which played a crucial role in the win. “We did a nice job. We were able to play a lot of people on special teams. Played more so on defense than probably offense, just because of how the game went,” he said ¹.

The win against the Knights marks a significant milestone for the Mountaineers, who are looking to build momentum for the rest of the season. With Brown at the helm, the team is confident that they can continue to improve and make a strong push for a successful season.

As the Mountaineers prepare for their next game, Brown’s focus remains on the team’s continued growth and development. “We need to continue to play at a high level and continue to get better,” he emphasized ¹.

With the team’s recent win and Brown’s positive outlook, the future looks bright for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
