Just in: Joel Klatt Calls Out Officials for Favoring No. 6 Miami Hurricanes in Consecutive Matchups

College football analyst Joel Klatt didn’t mince words when he criticized officials for what he called questionable officiating that appeared to benefit the No. 6-ranked Miami Hurricanes in back-to-back games. Klatt, a respected voice in college football, took to his platform to highlight several controversial calls that he believes may have had a significant impact on the outcomes of the Hurricanes’ recent matchups, sparking a debate among fans and analysts alike.

The games in question involved Miami’s contests against two ACC opponents, both of which ended in narrow victories for the Hurricanes. Klatt, in particular, pointed to crucial moments late in both games where the officiating seemed to favor the powerhouse program. “You hate to see officials play a role in the outcome of a game, but that’s exactly what’s been happening with Miami,” Klatt said during a segment on his show. “There have been key calls that have bailed them out in crucial moments.”

One of the calls Klatt singled out occurred in Miami’s matchup against North Carolina State. With the Hurricanes clinging to a slim lead late in the fourth quarter, a pass interference call on NC State kept a Miami drive alive, allowing them to run out the clock. “It was a very questionable call at a critical time,” Klatt noted. “I’m not saying the officials are biased, but it’s tough to ignore when these types of calls happen in consecutive games.”

In Miami’s following game against Clemson, a similar scenario unfolded. With the Tigers driving late in the game, a controversial roughing-the-passer penalty negated what would have been a game-changing interception. “These are the kind of calls that fans, and even players, are left scratching their heads over,” Klatt said. “You can’t help but wonder what might have happened if those flags hadn’t been thrown.”

Klatt’s comments have reignited the long-standing debate about officiating consistency in college football, particularly in high-stakes games involving top-ranked teams. While Miami fans have defended the outcomes, supporters of opposing teams have voiced their frustrations, claiming that the Hurricanes have been the beneficiaries of lenient officiating.

Despite the controversy, Miami remains undefeated and continues to climb the rankings. However, the Hurricanes’ recent victories will undoubtedly remain a hot topic of discussion, with critics like Klatt urging for more accountability from officials. “All anyone asks for is consistency,” Klatt said in closing. “And in these past two games, there just hasn’t been enough of it.”

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Miami to see whether they can maintain their momentum or if their recent luck with officiating will run out.
