Friday, July 19, is “Lexi Thompson Day,” as announced by Dana Open.

Lexi Thompson, who just announced her retirement from full-time LPGA Tour play at the end of the 2024 season, will be honored during Friday’s tournament round on July 19, according to the Dana Open.

Thompson expressed her gratitude for being selected by the Dana Open to receive recognition on Friday of tournament week. “I always look forward to visiting Toledo because of the incredible supporters and, ideally, the next generation of golfers. I sincerely hope that through our collective playing, as ladies, we inspire and impact others, since the Dana Open does amazing work supporting organizations that support children.

The 29-year-old Thompson has won 11 times on the LPGA Tour and has played in six Solheim Cup Matches for the United States, the two most recent being in 2023 in Spain and 2021 at Inverness Club.

Judd Silverman, the director of the Dana Open tournament, said, “We felt this was the perfect time to honor Lexi for everything she’s done for golf. She has meant so much to the LPGA Tour’s success and growth over the past 14 years.” “Lexi has inspired children to follow their passions and have great dreams while advancing women’s golf. She has, I believe, signed almost every cap, glove, ball, and flag that have been sent to her. She has also graciously accepted innumerable invitations from sponsors to appear on their behalf. “While saying goodbye is never easy, the time has come,” Thompson stated in a statement she made public at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open in May. “I will be taking a break from playing professional golf at the end of 2024. I am eager to enjoy the rest of the year because I still have a few goals to complete. I’m excited for what lies ahead in my life. spending time with my dependable dog, Leo, and family. I’ll always be on the lookout for methods to improve the game and motivate upcoming golfers.
