Celtic were handed an injury blow ahead of the Scottish Cup final, with centre-back Stephen Welsh having to be substituted in the 64th minute as the Hoops secured the Scottish Premiership title with a 3-2 win.
Welsh appeared to injure his shoulder when challenging for the ball alongside St. Mirren striker Toyosi Olusanya.
The Scottish centre-back previously dislocated his shoulder against Rangers in December, being substituted in the second half.
Today’s injury is a blow to Brendan Rodgers ahead of the match against Rangers next Saturday, with the Hoops having the chance to secure the domestic double in the Irishman’s first season back at the club.
Welsh did appear to cover his arm as if there was significant damage, but the hope will be that the injury is nothing long-term.
He has proven to be a more than able backup centre-back when called upon.
Additionally, with Champions League player homegrown rules, he fits the criteria very well as an academy graduate.
