Fans are unimpressed by the revelation that Ian Pearce will take over as West Bromwich Albion’s new director of football operations, while Mark Miles will take on the role of CEO.
Although Miles has been employed by the team for twenty years, he has never held a football-related position, raising questions about his qualifications.
Since taking over as West Brom’s head of recruitment in 2018, Pearce has been in charge throughout the most difficult time in the team’s recent history.
They have now made their intentions for the next season apparent. In a club interview, Miles stated that they will assemble a team to compete for promotion.
In a Q&A with the club, Pearce outlined their plan of action, saying that they will mostly target lower league players, loans, and free transfers. They also stated unequivocally that selling players was essential to achieving this.
