Wednesday night, the Texas Rangers continued to put runners on base, but they were never able to get the big hit.

At Globe Life Field, the Washington Nationals prevailed 1-0 to even the three-game series.

Over seven innings, Heaney limited the Nationals to only one run on four hits. He walked none and struck out four.For the third time this season, the Rangers were shut out.

The Nationals led 1-0 in the second inning thanks to a double by Ildemaro Vargas and a run scored on Alex Call’s single to left field.

Pitchers for the Nationals held it together, starting with Trevor Williams, who gave up five hits and four walks in five innings but twice got out of jams with runners on base and no outs in the second and fifth innings.

The Rangers were 1 for 9 when there were runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base.

Adolis Garcia, Evan Carter, and Josh Smith singled to begin the second inning, but Wyatt Langford’s fielder’s choice saw Garcia thrown out at home. Jonah Heim then struck out, and Leody Taveras grounded out to close the inning.
