In 2022, the Atlanta Braves took the NL East division and finished 14 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Then, in the postseason, the Phillies eliminated the Braves.
Last year, the Braves won 104 games and finished 14 games ahead of the Phils.
The two teams met again in the postseason, and guess who won? The Phillies, again.
This time, according to the Talkin’ Baseball podcast and analyst Jake Storiale, the Phillies might go for the division for a change.
“The Phillies have a real shot at the division this year,” Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

In the clip, Storiale says that “I don’t think the division was in play last year, but I think it is this year.”
“This Phillies team is, I don’t want to say perfect, but all these guys are really in their prime,” he said, and the evidence points to that being correct.
All the Phillies stars from Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Jose Alvarado, and many others are at the top of their physical abilities.
It’s a formidable core, and the whole Talkin’ Baseball crew took the “over” in the 90.5 wins odds.
There is a big difference in winning in the regular season and doing it in October.
That’s perhaps why the Braves haven’t been able to get past the Phillies in postseason play, but winning regular season games has represented little problem for them.
Many fans and media members, however, believe that the regular season Phillies will be much better in 2024.
It could certainly make for a fascinating competition.
