Done Deal For Houston Texans: As they re-sign a Multi-Million Dollars Deal with their favorite Player

The Lou Groza Award recipient and the NFL scoring leader of 2018, talented placekicker of the Houston Texans, Ka’imi Fairbairn, had his contract extended once again by the Texans squad.

He has signed a three-year $15.9 million contract extension and this makes him the fourth highest-paid kicker currently in the league. He is behind Los Angeles Rams’ Matt Gay and Baltimore Ravens Justin Tucker. His average annual salary stands at $5.3 million.

Fairbairn has been with the Texas squad since 2017 and last season he converted 27-of-28 field goal attempts, and was absent from five games due to an injury. The Texans had signed him as an undrafted free agent who came from UCLA in 2016.

The incredible place kicker has a career field goal percentage of 87.1 and his field goal conversion rate has been 94.9% since 2020. He also occupies first position among the kickers who participated in last twenty-five games. He also has an extra point conversion percentage of 92.4% as per Texanswire, USA Today.

Texans Announce Extension With Key Special Teams Player

The Houston Texans are looking to build off an incredibly surprising run in 2023 where they won the AFC South and also won their first playoff game in five years.

With plenty of cap space at their disposal and many of the key positions on the roster already locked down, the front office has plenty of room to spend on supplementary pieces.

The deal makes Fairbairn one of the five highest-paid kickers in the NFL.

Fairbairn just turned 30 years old and has been with the Texans for the past seven years since joining as an undrafted free agent.

His accuracy over the past two seasons has been remarkable, as he has only missed three field goals over the past two years, including going 11-12 from 50 yards and beyond.

The one concern is his injury history, as he missed five games this past season and four in 2021.

Granted, as a non-contact position, it’s still worth the investment as most kicking injuries are generally a fluke.

This contract represents Fairbairn’s second long-term contract with the Texans, as he signed a 4-year deal in 2020.

There are few things worse as an NFL fan than rooting for an unreliable kicker, so Texans fans now have the luxury of not having to worry about this position for at least three more years.

The team can now utilize its $70 million in cap space to address other areas of need.
