Breaking News: Patriots Faithfuls have all endorse one who the cap fit to be their coach.

Bill Belichick isn’t perfect, but he’s a heck of a football coach.

That’s the way Matthew Judon essentially put it in his pitch to other NFL teams who may be looking for a new head coach down the road.

The New England Patriots linebacker was asked about Belichick’s unemployment during an appearance on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” this week. Does Judon think another team should hire Belichick?

“I would say, ‘Hire that guy,’” Judon said. “He’s going to be great for the organization. He’s going to be great for the team.”

“I would also have to tell them about the downfalls,” Judon added. “It might not be too many smiles you get out the dude. It might not be too many laughs and jokes you might get out of him with the media and stuff. The press, you might have some pushback on that. But I think as a hire, as a head coach. It’s hard to get better as a head coach.”

Belichick and the Patriots parted ways earlier this year after a legendary 24-year run that saw six Lombardi Trophies come to Foxborough. Belichick is generally considered one of the best head coaches of all time. However, lack off success in recent seasons led Patriots ownership to go in another direction, hiring Jerod Mayo as Belichick’s replacement.

Networks have begun the pursuit of Bill Belichick - NBC Sports

The 71-year-old Belichick was in the market for a new job this offseason, but did not land any of the head coach openings. The Atlanta Falcons are the only team that announced that they had interviewed Belichick. However, the Washington Commanders had reportedly considered him as well.

Belichick has been criticized for his old-school, sometimes draconic leadership style — and for roster management decisions as de facto general manager. However, he’s still considered an elite football mind, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

That led the GMFB crew to ask Judon, would Belichick ever take a coordinator job in the NFL?

“I don’t think so. Maybe an analyst or something behind the scenes, just helping out. But I don’t think he would lessen his role.”

With all 32 head coach spots now full, it appears as though Belichick won’t be leading a team in 2024. As things stand, Belichick’s future remains unclear.
