Andy Enfield Breakdowns Final Play Leading to Loss to Colorado

USC dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday to the Buffalos.

Just when the USC Trojans men’s basketball team thought they might pull out a classic win over the Colorado Buffalos, the rug was pulled out from under them. The Trojans dropped another game in heartbreaking fashion, this time in double-overtime by a score of 92-89.

After all the struggles that the Trojans have dealt with this season, this game may hurt the most. It was a tight game, but in the end, USC couldn’t do enough to pull out the victory.

Head coach Andy Enfield reflected on the final play of the game that resulted in USC dropping the contest.

“Anytime you need a three the other team can guard the three-point line. They switched out, they switched out on Boogie and the guy jumped over the screen and then the second option was there. The play before that we got a wide open three for Boogie on the out of bounds play, and he missed it. So that shot goes in, it’s a little different.”

Guard Boogie Ellis attempted to tie the game, but the shot never came close to going in. In a way, this was a culmination of the season that the Trojans have been having.

They play hard and fight until the end but can’t finish the job. Despite entering the year with high expectations, the Trojans have stumbled through conference play.

They currently hold a record of 10-16 on the season, and unless they finish the year strong, they can kiss the NCAA Tournament goodbye. Assuming they keep on the current trajectory, we could see changes in personnel over the offseason.

The Trojans program knows this has been a tough season, but someone will need to answer for it. Enfield is the likely scapegoat, but hopefully, the Trojans can pick themselves up to turn everything around.
