The Saints found their new offensive coordinator from the 49ers staff

New Orleans Saints expected to move on from All-Pro this offseason

The New Orleans Saints are “working to hire” San Francisco 49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Kubiak, the son of former NFL coach Gary Kubiak, is in his first season with San Francisco. The 36-year-old was the passing game coordinator for the Denver Broncos in 2022, and offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021. Minnesota was 14th in points per game under Kubiak, who also took over play-calling duties in Denver after Nathaniel Hackett was fired.

This comes after New Orleans fired Pete Carmichael, who was with the Saints since 2006, and was their offensive coordinator since 2009.

The Saints interviewed several candidates for the job, but according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Kubiak was the consensus choice.

“The Saints targeted Klint Kubiak as the guy they wanted as their next offensive coordinator early on. He’s been the one all the way through,” Underhill tweeted soon after Schefter’s reporting.

“Kubiak would join the Saints after he coaches his final game with the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII,” Schefter added in the tweet. “No deal can be finalized until after the game.”
