The Phoenix Suns are contemplating a few changes before the NBA trade deadline on February 8 and are looking to improve their roster before they push into the second half of the season.
Last year, they made a huge splash with the acquisition of Kevin Durant and people are wondering what they will do this season
According to Gerald Bourguet, via NBACentral, the Suns are “interested” in Miles Bridges, currently of the Charlotte Hornets.
Bridges is a reliable forward who is averaging 20.9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists on 46% from the field.
He is a talented player who could really bolster the Suns’ chances but he comes with a huge amount of baggage too.
Bridges returned to the Hornets at the start of the season after serving a lengthy suspension due to domestic violence charges.
Charlotte’s acceptance of Bridges has been met with a lot of controversy from fans, who felt that the team should have dropped his contract after the charges against him.
If the Suns decide to take on Bridges, they will also take on the headlines that will come with him.
From a pure basketball perspective, Bridges is a smart choice for the Suns, who hope to get bigger and stronger before the postseason arrives.
The team has had a mostly strong season so far and currently holds a 25-18 record and is the fifth seed in the West.
However, their conference is crowded with very strong, intimidating teams, such as the Minnesota Timberwolves, who hold the best defensive rating in the league.
A player like Bridges could give the Suns more of a chance but the front office needs to decide if he’s worth the headache that will come with his signing.
