Report: Blazers ‘More Likely’ To Trade Malcolm Brogdon Than Jerami Grant
According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Portland Trail Blazers are “more likely” to trade Malcolm Brogdon than Jerami Grant.
The Blazers aren’t a lock to trade Brogdon, but the veteran guard would be moved before Grant.
“As a result, rival executives say Portland is viewing Grant as a positive trade asset, whereas some were hoping the Blazers would sell high on Grant early in his five-year contract as more of a neutral asset,” Scotto wrote. “Thus, executives believe Blazers guard Malcolm Brogdon is more likely to be dealt than Grant if Portland makes a trade at the deadline since he’s considered less expensive to acquire. Rival executives who spoke with HoopsHype believe a fair asking price for Brogdon is a first-round pick and salary filler.”
Brogdon is averaging 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.1 blocks for the Blazers while shooting 43.4% from the field, 41.0% from beyond the arc and 78.0% from the free-throw line. He’s making $22.5 million.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Malcolm Brogdon, Jerami Grant, Portland Trail Blazers Updates
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Blazers are not expected to seriously entertain trade offers for Grant. Portland signed Grant to a five-year, $160 million contract last offseason.
Grant is averaging 21.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks this season while shooting 45.9% from the floor, 41.2% from 3 and 80.2% from the foul line. He’s making $27.6 million.
The Blazers are 11-29 on the season. They are in 14th place in the Western Conference standings. Grant and Brogdon are better suited to play for a contender, but it looks like Portland doesn’t want to trade Grant.
