Should the Milwaukee Bucks Pursue Pascal Siakam
Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst has swung for the fences before by making a trade for Damian Lillard and Pascal Siakam is another name he could after. He is one of the hot names on the NBA trade market and many teams can go after Toronto Raptors Pascal Siakam. Siakam will be a free agent after this season.
Toronto may lose him for nothing if they don’t wind up trading him before the Thursday, February 8 NBA trade deadline. This season, the Raptors are 15-25 and they appear to not be in playoff contention. The Bucks are currently 28-12 and the number two seed in the Eastern Conference at the moment.
Siakam has played in 39 games this season for the Toronto Raptors. He is averaging 22.2 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 4.9 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 0.8 SPG this season for Toronto. Pascal Siakam is also 29 years old and will want a new contract at the end of the season.
Can the Bucks make a move for him or is it not worth it at all for the team?
There is a Pascal Siakam Mock Trade to the Milwaukee Bucks That Could Work But It Wouldn’t Make Sense and Upset the Fanbase
On the NBA trade machine, there is a scenario that Siakam being traded to the Bucks fits within the cap of them and the Raptors, but it wouldn’t go well with the fanbase. The trade would be Pascal Siakam for Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis Jr.
It would be interesting for Toronto because they would get two players back who are under contract for next season while Siakam isn’t. Lopez is 35 years old, but Portis Jr. is only 28 years old and is one year younger than Siakam.
Trading Pascal Siakam for Brook Lopez wouldn’t be the issue. The bigger issue would be adding Bobby Portis Jr. to the trade because he provides bench scoring to the team. Portis Jr, is in contention for sixth man of the year right now in the NBA.
In 40 games this season for the Milwaukee Bucks, Brook Lopez is averaging 12.8 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.6 APG, 2.9 BPG, and 0.6 SPG. They would also miss Lopez’s rim protection in this trade and they aren’t a great defensive team to begin with,
As for Bobby Portis Jr., he is averaging 12.6 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.5 BPG, and 0.7 SPG in 40 games this season for Milwaukee.
The Toronto Raptors will probably make a Pascal Siakam deal before the NBA trade deadline. It would be a surprise if that didn’t happen. It’s just a thought about Siakam to the Bucks, but there will be other teams that are trying to catch Milwaukee or compete with them like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat for example who could make a deal for him.
