The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver silences critics with dominate performance.
PITTSBURGH, PA — In the midst of his career-best game, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens sent a not-so-subtle message to those who spoke poorly about him throughout the week.
Pickens was the center of attention in Pittsburgh this week after he was caught giving little effort against the Indianapolis Colts and then admitting he chose not to block on a potential touchdown run because he didn’t want to risk injury.
Throughout the week, he was spoken poorly of by multiple analysts, show hosts and fans. But after dropping 195 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals, he sent a message to the haters.
Despite plenty of criticism for the decision, the Steelers chose not to bench Pickens after his lack of effort. That paid off immediately as he caught an 86-yard touchdown pass on just the second offensive play for Pittsburgh.
He then caught three more passes and finished the night with 195 yards and two touchdowns.
The Steelers moved to 8-7 on the season with a chance to climb back into the playoff race. Behind Pickens’s dominant performance and a breakout game by Mason Rudolph at quarterback, Pittsburgh will look to carry their momentum into Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks.
