Auburn Tigers Land Speedy Wide Receiver Out Of The Transfer Portal
The Auburn Tigers had a season that was below their standard. They finished 6-6 on the year however that record was a little deceptive. They only lost to Georgia by seven and it took a miracle play from Alabama for the Tigers to lose. The team is looking to rebound next year and they landed their first commitment from the transfer portal. Former Georgia State wide receiver Robert Lewis announced he will play for Auburn next season.

Auburn Tigers Land WR Robert Lewis
Lewis is one of the top wideouts in the Sun Belt Conference. In 2023, he tallied 70 receptions for 877 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. Head coach Hugh Freeze knew the team needed to improve the weapons on offense. Between the recruits coming in from the 2024 class and the Lewis commitment, the receivers are looking way better. He had this to say in a statement to On3.
“I feel like Auburn is the right fit for me because of the scheme that they run could fit with me. While talking about football with Coach Davis, we were really on the same page about a lot of things regarding my tape. We were both saying the same thing but in different verbiage. Also with the role I will be tasked with while being in the receiver room, I feel like I could help boost them to another level.”
Tough SEC Next Year
The SEC is going to be tough next year even more so than before and the Tigers have a gauntlet of a schedule. They have to play Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Missouri. Four of those teams are in the top 20 this year and are expected to be just as good in 2024. It isn’t going to be easy but Auburn has proven they can compete with the best in the SEC before.
This is a great get for the Auburn Tigers. Can they reload and compete in the SEC in 2024?
