Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen Clears Air About Postgame Handshake with Kansas City Chiefs Superstar Patrick Mahomes; ‘It’s a Game of Emotion. I Know He Didn’t Mean Anything by it’ – REPORT – Week 15

Last Sunday, the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs played in an epic thriller, resulting in a 20-17 win for the team from Orchard Park. The game continues to be the topic of conversation around the NFL because of an offensive offside penalty negating a touchdown, quote-heavy postgame interviews, and unorthodox handshakes.

The handshake that puzzled most NFL fans came between quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Rather than extending a hand in congratulations, like most losing quarterbacks due when they meet their counterpart at midfield, Mahomes spoke to Allen about his frustrations regarding a late-game penalty. However, Allen talked to the media on Thursday, emphasizing he felt no slight from his fellow signal-caller.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen: Understanding of Mahomes’ Frustration

Allen took to the podium on Wednesday, and when pressed about Mahomes’ approach to their postgame handshake, the Bills’ gunslinger said, “It’s football. It’s a game of emotion. I know he didn’t mean anything by it.”

Upon the two MVP-caliber quarterbacks getting on the field postgame, Mahomes immediately told Allen that Kadarius Toney’s late-game offsides penalty was the “wildest f—ing call I’ve ever seen” while also saying that it was “f—ing terrible.” Ezoic

The Kansas City Chiefs superstar apologized to Allen via phone call. Additionally, he apologized for his actions during his weekly radio show appearance on 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City.

Mahomes’ Chiefs lost to Allen’s Bills 20-17 last Sunday, with Kansas City’s go-ahead touchdown with under two minutes remaining being called back for an offensive offsides penalty courtesy of wide receiver Kadarius Toney. Mahomes made headlines not just for his controversial approach to Allen but also for his comments regarding the officiating in his postgame interview.

“To have a flag change the outcome of the game. I’ve never had offensive offsides called. If it does, they warn you. There wasn’t a warning the entire game. And then you make a call like that in the final minute? In another game, we’re talking about the refs. It’s not what we want for the NFL. It’s not what we want for football,” said Mahomes regarding the penalty that ultimately sunk his team’s come-from-behind victory chances.

Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills: Two Teams Heading in Opposite Directions

The Kansas City Chiefs have lost two straight and three of their last four. They have failed to score 20 points or more in three of those four games, while their lead in the AFC West slips. However, the Los Angeles Chargers have ruled out quarterback Justin Herbert for the remainder of the season, leaving the division in a two-team race. The Denver Broncos have won four of their last five and sit one game behind KC for the lead in the division.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills have won two of three and are two games behind the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East. They are in a six-way tie for the final two AFC Wild Card spots, but if the playoffs started today, the Bills would be on the outside looking in due to tiebreakers.
