Georgia State transfer WR Robert Lewis commits to Auburn after huge season with the Panthers

After visiting Auburn on Saturday and Sunday, Georgia State transfer wide receiver Robert Lewis didn’t need much time to think about the opportunity that presented itself on The Plains.

According to On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos, Lewis committed to the Tigers on Sunday, becoming Auburn’s first transfer commit since the transfer portal opened on Monday morning.

“Not many are presented with this opportunity, and I’m looking to make the most of it playing here,” Lewis said of playing on The Plains.

After three seasons at Georgia State, Lewis entered the transfer portal after a standout season with the Panthers, which saw him tally 70 receptions, 877 yards and seven touchdowns. On his career, Lewis has recorded 97 catches, 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Out of high school, Lewis was rated a 3-star recruit and garnered offers from the likes of Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee and others.

With one season of eligibility remaining, Lewis is set to come in as a seasoned leader in Auburn’s wide receiver room, which is preparing to bring in a ton of young talent, including a pair of 5-stars in Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson.
